I’ll be talking about the prices of things quite a bit. I may not remember to include the conversion to USD. Right now it’s $1USD=6.5RMB (called “kuai”). Just something to keep in mind.

This is a blog about tea. It is also a blog where I try to shake the dust off my writing. I’ll mostly be talking about different teas, a whirlwind of colors, flavors and locations. This first post is for me to set out a goal and guidelines.
My goal is to write about tea. To broaden my knowledge and experience while drinking teas and writing about them.
My guidelines are to keep it focused on tea. There are many other things I like to talk about. But this is for tea, drinking, snacks, culture, places… there are so many different things I can do within this one field that I don’t want to go to other topics.
With all of that out of the way I do want to make this post about something. More than just a first post.
So this is my tea frog. I haven’t named him yet. There are many legends of the three legged frog, he lived in the moon, he lived in a well and emitted poisonous vapors, he carried a magician, he is a busy frog. You turn the coin in his mouth for good luck with money according to the man I bought him from.
In tea sets, there are many small statues, the tea is poured on them, changing their color and according to some “awakening” the statue or inviting it to join you.
In my case I like how he looks, he is my tea drinking companion and expect him to show up in many more pictures.
Each bit of tea poured on him will slowly change his color, over time he will grow darker. The brush is used to make the coloring even. According to a friend, a well colored frog is more valuable than a fresh one though I haven’t seen any place that sells pre-seasoned frogs.
He will join us for the duration hopefully.
